The Major League Fishing television series is in the Grand Rapids area all this week shooting video as 30 top bass anglers compete in the 2017 Summit Cup through Saturday. Action started on Monday.

Some of the country’s best bass anglers are competing on several area lakes in five days of competition, hoping to make it to Saturday’s final round. All fish are immediately weighed on board and released. The anglers are fishing for both largemouth and smallmouth bass.

“We are very excited that Major League Fishing selected Grand Rapids as their first Minnesota location,” said Megan Christianson, director of Visit Grand Rapids. “We bid on this event because we want to expand our fishing marketing to include bass fishing.”

The events filmed in Grand Rapids will begin airing in February 2017 on Outdoor Channel.

This is Major League Fishing’s first time in its five-year history to fish in Minnesota.
