Duluth city bow hunters took a total of 570 deer in the 2012 hunt, according to preliminary registrations with the Arrowhead Bowhunters Alliance, the group announced Wednesday.
Of the 570 deer taken, 481 were antlerless deer and 89 were bucks. Hunters are required to shoot at least one antlerless deer before shooting a buck in the city hunt.
A total of 360 hunters took part in the hunt, which is designed to think the city’s deer herd. The hunt began Sept. 15 and ended Dec. 31.
The 2012 total of 570 deer reported taken is down from 587 in 2011 and the record 602 in 2010.
