Duluth’s bow hunters will have to finish on a strong note to match last year’s harvest of deer in the city. As of Dec. 10, city hunters had taken 512 deer, according to the Arrowhead Bowhunters Alliance, which conducts the hunt for the city. Last year, hunters took 587 deer in the hunt.
The season continues through Dec. 31. Of the deer taken so far, 431 were antlerless deer and 81 (16 percent) were bucks. That proportion is similar to past years.
The hunt began on Sept. 15. About 330 hunters are taking part in the hunt this year down from 377 last year. The record harvest for the hunt, which is in its eighth year, was 602 in 2010.
