As reported in Sunday’s Duluth News Tribune, Grand Marais explorer Lonnie Dupre will soon make his third attempt to become the first person to reach the summit of Alaska’s Mount McKinley (Denali) solo during the month of January. Here is the link to that story.
At 6:30 p.m. today, a “Denali Send-Off” for Dupre will be held at UMD’s Marshall Alworth Planetarium. Howard Mooers will make a polar sky presentation at 6:30, followed at 7 p.m. by Dupre’s presentation about his solo winter attempt to climb Alaska’s Mount McKinley (Denali). Suggested donation is $8; students, $5. A silent auction and raffles will be held. Sponsored by Granite Gear, Trailfitters and One World Endeavors.
