If you value Duluth’s cross-country ski trails and have some free time Wednesday morning, you can volunteer to spruce up those trails. The city of Duluth, the College of St. Scholastica and the Duluth Cross-Country Ski Club are joining forces to do pre-season trail maintenance from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
Crews will be dispatched to Duluth’s five public ski trails (Lester, Chester, Hartley, Peidmont, and Magney/Spirit) to help fix flood-impacted areas and clear brush that’s encroaching on the trails. City of Duluth trail staff and DXC trail stewards will be on hand to direct the student volunteers.
John Ipsen and André Watt from the DXC Trails Committee and City of Duluth Volunteer Coordinator Cheryl Skafte are coordinating this major effort. Contact Skafte at (218) 393-9879 and she’ll direct you to a trail.
