Don’t forget Thursday deadline for antlerless permits, wolf license lottery

Hunters who have yet to apply for an either-sex deer permit or a wolf hunting and trapping license are encouraged to do so well before the deadline on Thursday.

Deer management designations have changed in many areas since last season. Areas 103, 108, 110, 118, 119, 122, 169, 171, 172, 183, 197 and 199 are now lottery deer areas, which means hunters must apply for and be selected to receive a permit that allows them to shoot antlerless deer.

Because many of these areas have not been lottery areas for years, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources strongly recommends that hunters check to see if their preferred area has become a lottery area or has had other designation changes.

  1. Sam. I’ve been licked by a bear. Please put me in contact via email or preferably by phone to the gentleman who was also licked. His sleep-to-waking recollection provided to the DNT & my experience are spot on similar, although my incident happened 19 years ago. This is a moment in ones life not to be ignored…

I cannot give out the cell number for John Steitz, who had the bear encounter. I don’t have an e-mail address for him. He lives in Minneapolis. Perhaps he’s on Facebook. Good luck.

Thanks for your comment. I don’t feel I’m “promoting” wolf hunting. But because wolf hunting and trapping have become legal in Minnesota, I will report on them as we do on deer hunting, grouse hunting, pheasant hunting, etc. It’s part of my job. I certainly understand that many Minnesotans may oppose wolf hunting and trapping, and I’ve reported on that as well. It’s a controversial topic and will continue to be. Thanks for reading.
