Korkki Nordic ski trails now open; snowmobile trails in better shape

Korkki Nordic ski center, between Duluth and Two Harbors on the Korkki Road, is now groomed and open for the season, said lead groomer Mark Helmer. Helmer said 9 kilometers of the trail are open and in pretty good shape. Helmer skied 7 kilometers and noticed only a couple of roots protruding through the snow. With additional snow forecast for tonight, he said, the trails could be in even better shape by the weekend.

Conservation officer reports from across Northeastern Minnesota indicated that most snowmobile trails are in good shape for the first time this winter, and snowmobilers have been out riding in good numbers.
