City’s cross-country ski trails groomed, ready

According to an update on the Duluth Ski Trail hotline (730-4321) today, city crews have groomed Hartley, Chester and Piedmont cross-country ski trails this morning and will groom Lester and possibly Magney-Snively this afternoon. I heard from one skier who was at Hartley this morning and said skiing was superb.

The upper part of the Lester ski trail is in decent shape, according to the city hotline, but snow is still a little thin on the lower part of the trail.

Snowflake Nordic Center on Rice Lake Road has been open through much of November and continues to have plenty of snow and fresh grooming. At the Boulder Lake Management Area on Boulder Lake north of Duluth, trails were being rolled, then tracked today. The groomer is concentrating on Blue Ox, Bear Paw and Nine Pine trails.

The Spirit Mountain cross-country ski trails are now groomed and open, according to the Duluth XC Ski Club website (www.duluthxc.com)

More snow is apparently on the way tonight and Saturday, and city crews will be out grooming trails if that happens, according to the hotline.
