Extended lake trout season proposed on Lake Superior

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is proposing to adopt regulations that would extend the Lake Superior lake trout season. Lake trout fishing currently closes on Sept. 30 each fall, reopening Dec. 1. Under the proposal, the lake trout season on Lake Superior would be extended through the first full weekend of October to allow additional fishing opportunity.

The DNR is seeking comments on the proposed regulation change. Deadline for comments is Dec. 22. Comments can be made online by visiting the DNR web page.  Comments also may be made by calling (651) 259-5221 or (888) 646-6367, or by mail to Linda Erickson-Eastwood, Box 20, 500 Lafayette Road, St Paul, MN 55155-4020.
